Applicant must be one of the following:

  1. A student enrolled in an accredited HIT associate degree program
  2. A student enrolled in an accredited HIA bachelor’s degree program
  3. An RHIT progressing to an RHIA enrolled in an accredited program
  4. A student enrolled in an approved master’s degree program in a health care field related to the health information management profession.
  5. Preference will be given to a student in the last year of any of the above listed programs.
  6. Any member of AHIMA and NHIMA who has completed an accredited HIT associate or bachelor program and requests funds for testing for credentials.

Applicant must be a member of AHIMA and NHIMA.

Applicant is required to submit the following documentation by July 31:

  1. Completed application
  2. Two letters of recommendation (one must be from his/her HIM program director)
  3. Transcripts of credits from all institutions attended, including all coursework completed up to the year for which the scholarship application is made
  4. A letter from the student describing their individual professional goals
  5. A copy of AHIMA membership card
