ICD-10 CM/PCS Workshop

Overview

The goal of this workshop is to provide education for the experienced ICD-10 coder.

Bring a current version of your ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS code books.

Ms. Ward will address ICD-10 questions from the attendees at the end of the day.

Director of HIM Practice Excellence, AHIMA

Maria N. Ward, MEd, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P is a director of HIM Practice Excellence for AHIMA. In her role she provides professional practice expertise to AHIMA members, the media and outside organizations on coding practice issues. She authors and supports AHIMA online ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT coding education and serves as faculty for AHIMA coding workshops, including Crack the Codes and exam preps. She is also the presenter for AHIMA’s free monthly Coffee and Coding webinars.

Prior to joining AHIMA, Ms. Ward served as HIM Director and Compliance Officer for a small chain of acute care hospitals specializing in inpatient physical rehabilitation and inpatient geriatric psychiatry. She has over 20 years of HIM experience in various roles, including inpatient and physician coding, and medical transcription. As an educator, she was an adjunct faculty member at South Plains College in Lubbock, Texas, and has provided coder training across the country. Additionally, she spent over ten years working in the long-term care industry in HIM and administration.

Ms. Ward holds a Master of Education and a Bachelor in Healthcare Administration from Wayland Baptist University in Lubbock, Texas, as well as an Associate in Health Information Management from South Plains College in Lubbock, Texas. She is a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), and a Certified Coding Specialist for Physicians (CCS-P). She is also an AHIMA-approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer and AHIMA-approved IGAM™ Consultant.

Directions: Howard Hall is housed in the Student Center. Parking is available in Lots 8, 9, 54, 43, 33 and 48 for those attending the coding conference on November 16th.

NOTE: Lot 11 on the Clarkson College Campus is reserved for handicap parking. Attendees who utilize handicap parking may park in Lot 11 for this conference.

Students – $35

Walk-ins will be accepted the day of the workshop. A $25 late fee will be added to the registration pricing.

Please Note: Lunch is own your own. Lunch, drinks and snacks are not included in the registration fee. Clarkson College has a cafeteria near the conference room and vending machines are available for drinks and snacks.

There will also be sign-up sheets with lunch options which will be delivered prior to the lunch break. Payment for lunch will be expected at the time of sign-up. There are also a number of lunch options available within walking distance of Howard Hall. Please allow 45 minutes for lunch. Vending machines are also available for drinks and snacks.
