Dear Colleagues:

As you know, Health Information Management offers many diverse opportunities in work settings, type of work, and professional interaction.  Yet many people overlook this profession.  High school students want a rewarding career but often have no knowledge about HIM and the variety it provides.  Many are looking for an exciting, challenging career that will provide financial rewards both now and in the future.  HIM can meet their needs! 

I have created a HIM recruitment tool kit with the intended audience being high school students.  This kit includes a PowerPoint presentation including speaker’s notes, two medical terminology activities and three privacy scenarios.  Answers for activities are included.  With a little tailoring, this presentation could be used to educate any age of audience.

My goal in developing this tool kit was to increase awareness of the HIM profession.  By providing access to these resources and with your help, I have hopes that the profession will continue to grow in interest.
